From the Caribbean to the North Star
The photographic portraits presented in Jennifer
Domise’s From the Caribbean to the North Star are
images of life, work and landscapes occupied by
Jamaican male and female greenhouse labourers
within the Canadian Seasonal Agricultural Worker
Program. Shot in Canada’s “Tomato Capital,”
Leamington, Ontario, the sepia-toned snapshots
eschew territorial boundaries to reveal
transnational spaces of longing and connectivity
to the subjects’ Jamaican homeland. Many thanks to
Nanni’s Natural Hair Care Salon for sponsoring
this exhibition.
