Chair and I
Wynter’s work documents the performative act of
relaxing in public spaces. By inserting an object
connoting domestic comfort and private space (an
armchair) into busy urban landscapes, Wynter
transforms the act of sitting and relaxing into an
interruption to the social space that suggests
resistance. Questions are raised about the
preconditions for relaxation and the relationship
between our internal lives and our surroundings.
