CARNY: Americana on the Midway
This series of images explores the pop- and
sub-cultures of carnival life. Hunter traveled
throughout the United States documenting carnivals
and their workers. The images were published in
the book CARNY: Americana on the Midway (Umbrage
Editions). Hunter teamed up with Canadian
filmmaker Alison Murray to make CARNY, a
documentary inspired by Hunter’s images to be
aired on TVO, Channel 4 in the UK and The Sundance
Channel in the United States
