Entre Quatre Murs, Berlin
The exhibition consists of 30 orthochromatic
boxes. Women are photographed in their intimate,
domestic environments surrounded by everyday
objects. The contrast between Berlin’s pre–WWII
architecture and the contemporary nature of the
women’s appearances creates an unusual time-shift,
and provides a sense of nostalgia and melancholia
to these emotive, domestic portraits. The work
pushes beyond traditional photographic methods
through the use of experimental darkroom
techniques and new technologies
