Debris from the daily skirmishes with entropy that
are so much a part of urban existence – graffiti
and traffic cones, discarded chewing gum and lost
hubcaps – populate my images. The throwaway
details of city life that fly below the radar of
the media-mediated image of “Toronto the world
class city” are at the core of Urban Seen. And
weeds. I am particularly fond of the persistence,
opportunism and sheer bloody-mindedness of weeds.
