Havana
This collection examines the weathered surfaces of
the city of Havana: textured woods, worn fabrics
and rusting steel to the sea salt–sprayed walls.
The crumbling city of the past is juxtaposed with
the vibrant inhabitants of today. Havana is
dynamic and full of fleeting images, including the
repetition of the Cuban flag’s red, white and
blue. The photographs were taken by Payne while
studying lithography at the Taller Experimental de
Grafica de la Habana.
