Town & Country
Robert Walker has photographed New York City for
25 years, focusing primarily on Times Square. His
pictures capture a new urban reality – the
bewildering media environment of visual overload
and mixed meanings. It is a world where the
individual is caught in a seamless, perpetual
trompe l’oeil. To counter this, his images of
nature, as a contrived ideal, show us a botanical
garden where plants and ponds exude the artificial
hyper-reality of a children’s book.
