Does the genetic makeup and handed-down skillset
of an immigrant people remain strong enough to
provide concrete clues of their heritage after
100-plus years of isolation and fading memories?
Are historical links to their homeland evident in
their present environment? These questions are
explored with black and white images from Kashuby,
Ontario and the Kashubian homeland in Poland, on
the 150th anniversary of the arrival of Canada’s
