And the Circus Leaves Town conveys the
exaggerated emotions and the alternative
personalities expressed by someone
under the influence of alcohol and
detached socialization. The protagonist
is a beat-up clown, confused, down on
his luck, exasperated and drunk on his
own fallibility. Marigold adapts the
image of the sad clown in a bar to create
a character for whom voyeurs feel
empathy.
