Initially, Sandi Ralph’s screenprints appear as
typical landscapes, with some manipulation of colour and
scale. Her works merge photographic images of Western
Canada into single compositions, and she uses overlays of
colour blocks in some areas of the image to highlight the
individual character of the landscape. Upon closer
examination, the viewer will see the subtle deconstructions
and reconstructions that retain the original inspiration but form a
new visual reality.
