Wheels on Waves: California Skate Parks
Arthur Tress is a renowned American
photographer whose
career has spanned almost five decades. The
inspiration for his
images from California skate parks came after
returning from the
vast religious complex of Teotihuacán in Mexico
City. Upon
seeing the challenging ramps and deep bowls of
flowing concrete
at a skate park he saw the similarity of the two
sites in their
archetypal dramas of adolescent self-initiation.
