Broken Ground: 19th & 20th Century Photographs from Canada
A Canadian survey exhibition of historical and
contemporary photographs … includes outstanding
19th century and early 20th century photographs
from the National Archives collection which
present early images of Canada as ‘the stereotyped
endless landscape’ inhabited by mainly aboriginal
peoples and settlers. The contemporary
photographs challenge this widely held stereotype.
The contemporary artists include Thaddeus
Holownia, Jolicure, NB, Serge Clément, Montreal,
Rafael Goldchain, Toronto, David Hlynsky, Toronto,
Brenda Pelkey, Saskatoon, and Andrew Danson
Danushevsky, Halifax.
