To appreciate Earth as a planet from its surface, I
explore the desert horizon, folding and unfolding in
a time scale more easily related to our human
lifespan. Grains of sand and life etch the
landscape into remarkable structure and colour,
immersed in the most arid land and sky.

Deserts, no doubt, evolve from semi- deserts,
derived from environments low in available fresh
water. The Arctic is an example of a Polar desert
while the Badlands of Alberta are considered semi-
arid. Fluctations in climate can alter the current
balance of water in nature, and in time, the
classification of our landscape.
