Leena Raudvee Interior Lines
Interior Lines is a series of close-up photographs from large charcoal and conté drawings on mylar, created by Leena Raudvee during a residency at the Arcadia Art Gallery in 2023. These were drawn responses to Raudvee’s daily struggle to get in and out of a chair, difficult because of a degenerative muscle disease. Each line was a witness to the emotional and physical effort to perform this simple gesture.
Raudvee used the camera to reveal textures and energies that emerged from the accumulation of drawn lines. These photographs hold stories of the precariousness of negotiating im/mobility through disability and aging.
