Projected Histories: Saints
Projected Histories: Saints is a performance piece
in which the
human body serves as a canvas for images from the
phenomenal world.Classical paintings of monks
holdind books
are projected as color transparencies onto a human
figure, transforming the body into a piece of
living sculpture.In
these classical paintings, the books are symbols of
knowledge.By projecting these painted images of
books onto
human body, I’m creating a sensuality which
encompasses
both flesh and knowledge. The composite eroticism
of book and
flesh culminates in the image of the spine of the
book and the
human spine united as a single entity.
