This exhibition, curated by April Hickox, presents
works by seven photographers whose images are
focused on a singular or primary object. The object
may be an element in a hybrid construction, a prop
used to make a photogram, or embedded in a
narrative sequence. In each case, the object is the
bearer of meaning within the larger context of the
image. These works unmask the photograph as an
object that captures a trace of the real on its
surface and has the potential to simultaneously
blur and illuminate the relations between subjects
and objects.
