The photographic works in this exhibition by resident artist Joe Berry pair various exotic animals with different everyday products which have the potential to range in commercial value from affordable to extravagant. Using sharp focus and commercial lighting techniques, the juxtaposition of selected exotic creatures paired with each object creates a sense of both surprise and intrigue. The creatures are not cute and cuddly creatures typically employed in commercial settings, rather, they are those that are oftentimes regarded as creepy or feared. This in turn creates discussion of beauty and worth, and the definition of each in both art and commercial practices.
