Bodies as Landscapes
Richard’s continuing exhibit, Bodies as Landscapes, explores
the human form as a stylized reflection of landscapes,
reminiscent of the rolling hills and treeless vistas of southern
California where he once lived. These untitled nudes invite the
viewer to imagine human bodies not as sexualized objects, but
as abstract forms like so many that are found in the natural world. Richard uses the simplest of light and shadow to convey a sense of calmness and tranquility in his work.
