Suzanne: The Original Portfolio
- Olivia’s Restaurant
Suzanne Verdal inspired Leonard Cohen’s best known
song.
These modern prints were made from negatives
exposed from
1966 to 1979. Suzanne was a dancer, a solo
performer who
made her own costumes and designed and applied her
own
makeup. For the camera, she was always ‘on’. Her
poses
were dramatic and perfectly executed. The proofs
show that
usually, one or two exposures were made, then she
moved on to something else.
