Painted Lens
Barbara Allan’s exhibition, The Painted Lens, is
one of pure, unenhanced photographic images. In
her words, “My passion for painting has always
influenced my photography. The subjects which
attract me are the ones I would also like to paint.”
Indeed, her works have been described
as “canvasses on film”. She uses all the elements
of the photographic pallet – light, shadow, colour,
form and texture, combining these in subtle
mixtures that create both captivating and dream-
like visions.
