Each year on the island of São Miguel in the Azores, citizens line the streets with carpets made of flowers, which are walked on during religious festival processions. Photographing his own flower carpets for this exhibition, Custodio brings the traditions shared by grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins into a contemporary context.

Incorporating plant life from his garden and the surrounding Niagara Region of Canada, Custodio continues the familial tradition with his own personal interpretation.
