Theatrics
Theatrics exhibition brings together two artists
who are inspired by fiction of the past.
Sonja Scharf, through her use of period costumes
and props, constructs rich historical photo-based
narratives inspired by Renaissance and Pre-
Raphaelite great master painters, while
photographer Russell Brohier captures the decay
of time and neglect on abandoned architectural
sites.
Brohier’s images of the Satler Theatre in Buffalo
present a once plush, ornate house of staged
assembly that has since deteriorated through its
dormancy. The presence of past eras prevails
through the contemporary lens of both artists,
encouraging a renaissance of staged dreams
through the lens of the camera.
