Using lateral thinking and materials from the
pedestrian landscape with inherent symbolic
natures, such as office supplies, construction and
transportation stuffs, Izsa constructs
installations to evoke rather then describe ideas
about the process of ideas and creating.

Izsa substitutes corporeal materials for
photographs of, and uses these as building blocks
for a large-scale, constructivist-ish installation
in her typical ephemeral style (described by
one critic as “firmly in the Abstract-Expressionist
camp”)

Coming from Welland, Ontario, Toronto/Duesseldorf
artist Tiff Izsa graduated from OCAD and went on
to study at the Kunstakademie Duesseldorf in
Germany, where she has lived and worked since
2003. Izsa has received awards for her work such
as the Toronto Untitled Arts Awards “Best Emerging
Artist 2003″, and has had many favourably mentions
and reviews including a focus as one of NOW
Magazines young artists to watch in 2004 and more
recently the cover and feature article of Eye
