Benjamin Rondel Border_Line
Border_Line is a series of photographs that address the dual nature of borders: both as sites of strict control and of environmental porousness.
The same national border manifests differently in every landscape— throughout the project, the photograph acts as a witness to the myriad ways borders impact their surroundings.
At the Canada-U.S. border, natural phenomena seep across with little regard for the concept of the boundary. Weeds, grasses, roots, and wild animals disregard the border’s legal significance.
Borders are carefully calculated, they are strictly enforced, even when barely seen.
