North of Long Tail is a documentary series that explores deep, intrinsic, human connections to Lake Erie. During the summer of 2020, Boyd Shafer (in collaboration with the Canadian environmental advocacy organization Environmental Defence) travelled along Lake Erie’s northern shoreline—from Essex County to Niagara Region—capturing portraits of local people with the lake that sustains them.
Part art, part call to action, the exhibition illustrates what could be lost if the Great Lakes are left unprotected.
